WAIVERS
MN Hockey 2024 rule Minnesota Hockey updated the waiver rules in January 2024.
Beginning with the 2024-2025 season, open enrollment waivers will be available only to first-year Squirt and 10U players, as well as players at the Jr Gold and 19U levels. *Players who with a valid school open enrollment waiver received prior to the 2024-2025 season will be 'grandfathered' in and are eligible to continue playing with their association of school enrollment as long as they remain continuously enrolled in that school.
All other players open enrolled will need to request a discretionary waiver each year.
Discretionary Waivers: No association may release a player without approval of the receiving association and District 6. Waivers may be provided based on school and team numbers School based waivers may be requested for the following:
- 1st year of hockey registration that falls outside of the mandatory eligibility outlined above.
- Sibling waivers for players waived prior to 2024-25 season who are open enrolled in the association boundaries. Both siblings must maintain continuously enrolled.
- Change of schools based on a home relocation may be considered based on residency rules and requirements.

2025 Rookie Camp Information
PLSHA Rookie Camp is offered to 1st year skaters
(who live in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District) as a way to expose them to the great sport of hockey without a significant investment! Content will expose kids to basic skating, shooting, puck handling drills while including lots of fun and games! The cost for 6 sessions is $90 + USA Hockey fee.
Sessions will be held at Dakotah! Ice Center.

November 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd
Time for all sessions:
11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.

Give Hockey a Shot - FREE EVENT!
To help build on the success of Laker Hockey, PLSHA has made recruitment of new athletes one of our number one goals.
PLSHA offers a series of free clinics to invite kids to "Give Hockey a Shot”. The Clinics will take place at Dakotah! Ice Center in Prior Lake.

Saturday, Sept. 13th
1:30-2:30 p.m.

The Big Skate Girls Event - FREE!
This is a FREE event to promote Prior Lake-Savage Youth Girls Hockey (in memory of Anna Bird)!

11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
At “The Big Skate” there will be lots of fun on- and off-ice!

2025 Tim Speltz Light the Lamp Foundation Scholarship
Tim Speltz Light the Lamp foundation is available for traveling players with a DOB between June 1st, 2010 and May 31st, 2016. Please note that Traveling Prior Lake girls playing in SPL are eligible.

PLSHA has received a generous donation from The Tim Speltz Light the Lamp Foundation that will be used to help PLSHA traveling hockey families that are in need of financial assistance this hockey season. Hockey can be an expensive sport and the funds will help by offering a financial scholarship that will go towards helping with registration and potentially season bills as well.
Applicants must submit a confidential Scholarship application form (attached). Completed applications must be received by 08/26/2025. Please continue to register for the season as scholarship application review will not happen before registration closes.
