JOINT EFFORT WITH SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES WILL FOCUS ON HELPING THOSE IN HOCKEY EXPERIENCING HARDSHIPS OR NEED FINANCIAL SUPPORT
St. Paul, MN – September 26, 2018 – Minnesota Hockey, and its newest Grow the Game partner, Sun Country Airlines, are excited to announce the creation of the Minnesota Hockey Legacy Fund. The Legacy Fund was founded and approved by the Minnesota Hockey Board of Directors in an effort to make a difference by giving back to membership. The fund will provide grants to individuals, families, organizations or associations in need of financial support to overcome personal hardships.
There is no deadline for applications, although allocation decisions will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis and continue until all resources are exhausted for the 2018-19 season. Those wishing to help or support those in their local hockey community will fill out an application at any time beginning on September 26. Applications can be filled out online at www.minnesotahockey.org/legacyfund.
“We are thrilled to launch this initiative for the 2018-2019 season and beyond,” said Minnesota Hockey President Dave Margenau. “We are also so thankful to Sun Country Airlines for their support of this program and their focus on helping as many children as possible fall in love with the game of hockey. It is our member families and volunteers that make our community-based model so special, and the Legacy Fund is a way that we can give back to many of those members in need.”
All decisions on Legacy Fund allocations will be determined by the Minnesota Hockey Legacy Fund committee which includes members of the Minnesota Hockey staff, the Minnesota Hockey Board of Directors, the Minnesota Wild Foundation and Sun Country Airlines staff.
“Sun Country Airlines is proud to support hockey families in our local community,” said Sun Country Airlines Chief Marketing Officer Brian Davis. “We are excited to launch this partnership with Minnesota Hockey and to help them grow the game with youth players across our home state.”
